Tony Sardalos
Counselling Psychologist; HCPC
I am an HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist with extensive experience working across NHS primary and secondary care services, offering psychological therapy to adults with a broad range of emotional and mental health difficulties. My therapeutic work is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and curiosity, with a focus on creating a space where clients feel seen, respected, and deeply understood.
I take a pluralistic approach to therapy, recognising that no single model can capture the full complexity of a person’s experiences. By drawing from a range of evidence-based psychological theories, I work alongside clients to explore their unique stories, identities, and challenges, supporting them in developing greater self-awareness and finding meaningful ways of living.
For many people, seeking therapy can feel vulnerable; particularly if they have felt misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or unheard in the past. I aim to offer a warm, reflective, and affirming space where people can safely explore the difficulties they face and reconnect with who they are beyond expectations, roles, or labels.
Areas of Expertise
Throughout my career, I have supported individuals with a wide range of psychological difficulties and life experiences. I frequently work with people who have received diagnoses such as:
Bipolar Disorder
Autism & ADHD
I also work with many individuals who do not identify with diagnostic labels but are seeking a deeper understanding of their emotions, relationships, and patterns of behaviour. My practice is especially suited to people who experience:
Intense emotions such as shame, guilt, anxiety, or despair
Persistent feelings of disconnection or not belonging
Difficulties related to identity, power, and cultural or social expectations
Emotional distress shaped by marginalisation or experiences of being misunderstood.
Therapeutic Approaches
My approach to therapy is pluralistic and integrative, allowing our work together to be shaped by your needs, preferences, and goals. Depending on what feels most helpful to you, we may draw upon:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Understanding links between thoughts, feelings, and actions
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Building psychological flexibility and values-based living
Psychodynamic Therapy – Exploring the influence of past experiences and unconscious processes
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) – Cultivating compassion to support emotional regulation and reduce self-criticism
Humanistic and Person-Centred Approaches – Focusing on authenticity, self-understanding, and personal growth
Systemic and Discursive Perspectives – Examining how social and relational contexts shape meaning and wellbeing
What to Expect from Therapy
Therapy with me is collaborative, exploratory, and grounded in authenticity. Together, we shape the process around your needs, taking time to reflect on what feels most meaningful to you. Our work may involve structured tools or reflective exercises when helpful, or it may unfold through open, thoughtful conversation.
I aim to be transparent, grounded, and genuinely human in the room, creating an inclusive and affirming space where all identities and experiences are welcomed. Rather than focusing on right or wrong answers, we explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns with curiosity and compassion, guided by what supports you best.
Professional Background & Qualifications
