Dr Ashley Goff
Counselling Psychologist; HCPC & BPS
I am an HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist and Chartered Scientist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals across NHS, corporate, and academic settings. My work focuses on helping people navigate a wide range of psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, mood disorders, ADHD, Autism, eating disorders, and self-esteem challenges. I aim to provide a warm, safe, and non-judgemental space where clients feel supported to explore their experiences and develop strategies for meaningful change.
At the core of my practice is a collaborative and integrative approach, drawing on multiple evidence-based therapies to meet the unique needs of each individual. I work closely with clients to understand their goals and help them develop insight, resilience, and practical skills to enhance their wellbeing.
Areas of Expertise
Throughout my career, I have supported adults experiencing a broad spectrum of psychological difficulties, including:
Anxiety, panic attacks, and generalised anxiety disorder
Depression and low mood
Personality disorders, including Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Bipolar disorder and other mood disorders
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and phobias
Addiction and self-harming issues
Self-esteem and emotional regulation
Stress and work-related stress
I have a particular interest in supporting clients through complex challenges such as identity, shame, and trauma, as well as working with individuals who experience difficulties in regulating emotions or maintaining stable relationships. My approach balances empathy, curiosity, and gentle challenge to help clients gain insight and make sustainable changes.
Therapeutic Approaches
My approach to therapy is integrative, adapting to the needs and preferences of each client. Some of my core modalities include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Supporting clients in living in line with their values and building psychological flexibility.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Exploring the links between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours to identify patterns and develop coping strategies.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) – Reducing self-criticism and cultivating self-compassion.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) – Building emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) – Emphasising strengths and practical solutions for change.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) – Processing traumatic memories to reduce their emotional impact.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) – Cultivating awareness and acceptance to support mental wellbeing.
I take pride in tailoring therapy to the individual, ensuring that sessions are paced appropriately and delivered in a supportive, collaborative, and transparent way.
